The Toughest Footrace On Earth

The Marathon des Sables is ranked by the Discovery Channel as the toughest footrace on earth.

The MdS is a multi-day ‘ultra-marathon’ or ‘ultra’ run across the Sahara Desert in six days over a course of between 150 and 156 (254km) miles.

Which, by the way, is the equivalent of Running from London to Dover - deciding not to go to France after all and running back again

in 120 degree heat, on sand, with a 10kg backpack on.

With just over 1,000 runners taking part, my goal will be to finish within the top 250 (overall) and in the top 50 on the final race day. It's a massive challenge that will push me to my very limits, both physically and mentally, requiring complete commitment over a 14 month training period.

As well as the relentless training schedule, my toughest challenge over the next 14 months, and the one in which I will need the most support in order to achieve, is to raise over £10,000 for a truly amazing charity. So please dig deep and give as much as you can, and in turn I will push as hard as I can to compete!

Latest training

46 miles Jurassic Ultra complete! 9 and a half hours of running with over 5,000 feet of climb at 30 degree inclines! An incredibly tough race in the face of heavy rain, but finished in the top 3rd of the field!

Whats Next? The 100km Cornish coastal run (rat race) before I begin heat training from September.
